Based on the classic Meissen ‘Onion’ pattern created in 1731, this pattern has delicate vines wrapping around bamboo stems and chrysanthemum blooms. With limited access to exotic fruits like peaches, melons and pomegrantes as references, the German painters’ East Asian fruits soon became mistaken for ‘onions’. Fortunately, it won’t give you onion breath, so why not pair this print with its younger sister “Pickled Onions & Jatz”?
Treat it like a formal piece of art by mounting in a box frame, or embrace the whimsy by sticking it directly to your wall. Each print is hand-cut into an *almost* perfect circle. But if you truly think it’s hip to be “square” and would prefer an un-trimmed square print, add a note to your order or send me an email.
