The Indian Tree pattern was created in c.1801 by Coalport by copying earlier Indian textile patterns. With the crooked tree branch and exotic flowers, this pattern was produced by many other companies including Johnson Brothers, Minton and Aynsley in pinks, greens, oranges and blues and was popular in the second half of the 19th century. This version has been named after Eucalyptus microtheca. The coolibah tree is commonly found across much of eastern Australia and used by First Nations people to treat snakebites and headaches. This print may not cure a migrane, but the soothing blues and intricate design won’t make you jump into a billabong either.
Treat it like a formal piece of art by mounting in a box frame, or embrace the whimsy by sticking it directly to your wall. Each print is hand-cut into an *almost* perfect circle. But if you truly think it’s hip to be “square” and would prefer an un-trimmed square print, add a note to your order or send me an email.
